Ultra high definition television is one of the technological areas that will benefit from 5G. The possibility of having ultra-high-definition television on trains, buses, subways, or trams is a transformation. Until now these transports could have screens, but this is not synonymous with television. And it is not easy to bring the television signal to a moving vehicle. It is impossible to wire up to the screen, for obvious reasons, thus ruling out cable or fiber TV. But the options of a conventional or satellite antenna are not viable either. Both require a receiver of dimensions not always suitable for a bus or a train car. 5G, however, is a change. The Start of Buses With 4K Television and Video
To demonstrate that 4K television and video could be brought to public transport, and more specifically to a bus, Telefónica launched a pilot project together with the Segovia City Council. One of the vehicles on Line 1-San José was equipped with a 4K TV decoder, which connects to Telefónica’s mobile network to reach a video server hosted by Mobile Edge Computing.
The TELDAT company also collaborated, providing a high-performance mobile router. It was necessary to have a stable connection on the move, due to the quality demands that 4K demands. Telefónica, for its part, took care of the deployment of the network and its management. The bus, loaned for the project by the transportation concessionaire Avanza, had three screens. In them, you could see some channels of Movistar, a platform that already broadcasts in 4K.
The one in Segovia was the first bus with 4K television and video via 5G. The demonstration is the first to incorporate ultra-high-definition television in a mobile environment.

In this way, 5G would become a suitable medium for ultra-high-definition television and video. This possibility reflects the aspiration of the new standard to become a unifying element of communications.
